The Boxing Academy

The Boxing Academy offers high quality education and development to the most hard-to-reach young people, realised through the discipline and ethos of boxing.

Our unique model offers intense mentoring and support for young people, placing them in a class of 8 students with a dedicated boxer who acts as mentor, teacher support and coach throughout their stay with us.

For young people who have had a negative and unsuccessful time in mainstream, especially those who have anger or aggression issues, this is a fresh start and an opportunity to complete their GCSEs and gain a place in further education. The ethos reflects our origins, that of a boxing gym: a small, comfortable and familial environment with clear boundaries, a system of rewards and sanctions and an emphasis on discipline, achievement and hard work.

Students do not need to have boxed to attend the Boxing Academy. In fact, most of them haven’t. The daily boxing training helps with concentration, fitness and self-esteem but they do not compete. We use daily Boxing training to provide a skill-based intervention which successfully improves the wellbeing, academic success, resilience and life opportunities for young people.
